IN A FEW DECADES SEA GLASS MAY NOT EXIST AT ALL. Today sea glass is more scarce and can be harder to find due to plastic bottles and restrictions on ocean dumping.
FAKE VS REAL SEA GLASS
To tell the difference, look for sea glass that’s not perfect. Color varies in the natural pieces and there are imperfections. Glass that’s been tumbled in a machine doesn’t vary as much in color shape and thickness. Depending on your project you may want to consider using machine tumbled sea glass. I use a combination in my work.
THIS IS MACHINE TUMBLED SEA GLASS
I am fortunate enough to live on Kent Island, Maryland’s largest island and referred to as the “Gateway to the Eastern Shore” I collect sea glass from the beaches here but it’s hard to find any colors except green, white and brown. I ordered some sea glass from a few places online and it was crap. I decided to make my own and it is gorgeous!!

These beautiful pieces are emerald green. Assorted sizes. The jar holds 12 ounces of liquid and measures 2.5 inches diameter and is 4.25 inches tall. It weighs 13 ounces. -
